Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our telepsychiatry services, appointments, insurance, and policies.

General Questions

What is telepsychiatry?
Telepsychiatry is the delivery of psychiatric services through secure video conferencing technology. It allows you to receive the same quality mental health care from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Our board-certified psychiatrists provide evaluations, medication management, therapy, and ongoing support through HIPAA-compliant video sessions.
Is telepsychiatry as effective as in-person care?
Yes! Research shows that telepsychiatry is just as effective as in-person psychiatric care for most conditions. Many patients actually prefer it because it eliminates travel time, reduces anxiety about visiting a medical office, and allows for greater scheduling flexibility.
What happens in an emergency or crisis?
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), go to your nearest emergency room, or call 911. Telepsychiatry is not appropriate for emergency situations.

Appointments

How do I schedule my first appointment?
You can schedule your first appointment through our online booking system. Navigate to the Appointments page, select an available time slot, and complete the brief intake questionnaire. New patient appointments typically last 45–60 minutes.
What technology do I need?
You'll need a device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop), a stable internet connection, and a private, quiet space. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform that works in most web browsers — no special software download required.
How often will I need follow-up appointments?
Follow-up frequency depends on your individual needs and treatment plan. Initially you may be seen every 2–4 weeks. Once stable, many patients transition to monthly or quarterly appointments for medication management.

Insurance & Cost

Do you accept insurance?
We accept many major insurance plans and are continually expanding our network participation. Visit our Access & Cost page for a current list of accepted insurances. We also offer self-pay options with transparent pricing.
How much do appointments cost without insurance?
Our self-pay rates vary by appointment type. Initial psychiatric evaluations typically range from $250–350, while follow-up medication management appointments range from $125–175.

Privacy & Security

Is my information kept private?
Absolutely. All video sessions use end-to-end encryption, and our electronic health records system is HIPAA-compliant. We never share your information without your written consent, except as required by law.
Can my employer or family find out about my treatment?
No. Your treatment information is protected by federal privacy laws (HIPAA). We will not disclose that you are our patient or share any treatment details with anyone without your explicit written authorization.
